Unfortunate Events

Jul 28, 2012 (0) comment

The news always seems to bring some sort of unbelievable story to your attention. It’s seldom heard that all is right in the world. Unfortunately, bad things happen to good people all the time. Just recently, the news brought the terrible story of the movie theater in Colorado that was attacked by a gunman who killed 12 people and injured 50 more. Why does this need to happen?

That is the question everyone asks and will most likely never find an answer. Innocent people were killed and injured because of one man’s decision to gas and shoot them down. How will their families deal with the grief? Finding the right counseling is imperative to help the surviving parties regain their normal lives after such a tragedy.

In this case, the staff at the Colorado theater had taken preventative measures to keep anything bad that could’ve happened from getting worse. The event everyone was attending was a midnight showing of the new Batman movie, so they had extra security detail for the night. There were police already in the building when the gunman started shooting and were able to prevent further attacks. Having extra security may have saved some lives.

Taking preventative action is a great way to keep criminals at bay. It is much more than unfortunate that anyone had to lose their lives in this terrible event. If the police had not been there, it could have been even worse. You never know what can happen these days. It’s a shame that we even need to worry about gunmen completing these random acts of horror, but it’s the world we live in. Keep yourself and your loved ones protected the best way you know how. If you don’t know how, find out from someone who does and listen. Stay safe.
